It has been many, many years since the four Clans were wiped out. Their memory has always been kept alive in stories passed down from generations of loners, rogues and kittypets. Four friends- two kittypets, one loner and one rogue- decide to start up their own Clans in hopes of bringing back the warrior ways. The first leader, the female kittypet, started the Clan CloudClan because of her name, speed and the love of the sky. The second leader, the male loner, started the Clan DuskClan because of his love for the night and his skills in tracking anything and everything through the darkest of nights. The third leader, a female rogue, started the Clan StreamClan because of her many experiences hunting in many different waterways and reed-beds. The fourth and final leader, the male kittypet, started the Clan called OakClan in memory of his great-great-great-great-grandfather and his love for the forest and their many winding paths. After starting their Clans, the four leaders- Cloudstar, Duskstar, Streamstar and Oakstar- began looking for somewhere they could talk to the warrior ancestors, StarClan, and eventually they came to find a large pond that clearly showed the moon and stars reflected in it. After deciding on how they were going to try and get in contact with StarClan, they laid down and let their paws extend until they touched the water. Eventually, they fell asleep and woke up to four cats standing in front of them. The four starry warriors greeted them and introduced themselves as Bramblestar, Rowanstar, Crowstar, and Reedstar. Bramblestar was the first to step up and compliment the new leaders on how well they had started their Clans. Once he finished speaking, Crowstar stepped foward and told them that they would now teach them the warrior code and other things that leaders should know. After what seemed like an eternity, the cats awoke and nodded at each other. They knew what they now had to do: Set up territories and find others like themselves. More importantly, ones they could trust to lead the Clans with and after them.
It has been one year after the Clans were founded and Streamstar is the only founding leader left alive. With more than half her lives left, she and her medicine cat receive a prophecy from StarClan about a fading moon and a dangerous cat. As she goes to share her dream with the other leaders, she learns that she is not the only one to receive this warning and is left to think about it with the other leaders. She wonders what it means and wonders what her friends would have said and done about it had they lived to learn of the prophecy with her.
